The Governance Foundations for Not-for-Profit Directors course is delivered by our partner the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Over the last 40 years, the AICD has been helping organisations and sporting associations to improve their governance practices, enabling clubs to enhance their performance. For more information on governance for the Not-for-Profit sector, please click here.

This program is a one and a half day course which provides participants with an understanding of fundamental compliance and performance related roles and responsibilities of directors, specifically in the areas of governance, risk, financial performance and strategy.

The topics covered in the program are:

  • Duties and Responsibilities of NFP Directors
  • Finance for NFP Directors
  • Strategy and Risk for NFP Directors

Case studies examined in the course look specifically at sporting examples for greater relevance to the sports context we work in.

This is an outstanding opportunity to provide high quality training and development at an affordable price for your directors and /or management staff, or for larger associations. Sport NSW has worked with the AICD to provide this industry-leading short course in as cost-effective manner as possible for your organisation.

The course is designed for first time directors or aspiring directors considering taking a position on a not-for-profit board. Executives at not-for-profits will also gain a deeper understanding of the functions of their boards.

This program is suitable for:
