2018 Women Leaders in Sport program now open

As part of the sporting industry's ongoing commitment to greater gender diversity and inclusiveness, Sport Australia CEO Kate Palmer has launched the 2018 Women Leaders in Sport program.

The WLIS program aims to provide women with development opportunities to reach their leadership potential in the sports industry, including:

  • sport management in high performance and participation, coaching, officiating, communications/marketing, to elite athletes transitioning out of playing sport to sport administration;
  • operational (e.g. office administrator) to decision making level (e.g. General Manager, Chief Executive Officer, Board Director); and
  • national sporting organisations, state sporting organisation (SSO) to local or regional clubs.

Since 2002, the program has provided leadership development for over 24,000 women in sport and in 2019, and offers Leadership Workshops for individuals and organisations, Development Grants for individuals and organisations, and a targeted leadership development program for individuals.
