2019 Sport NSW Conference Event Wrap Up

Published Tue 26 Feb 2019

The 2019 Sport NSW Industry Conference was held on Friday 22 February at ACPE in front of a sell-out audience of over 250.

The event was enjoyed by all delegates, with a full day of education and networking opportunities for attendees from State Sporting Organisations, State Sporting Organisations with a Disability, local councils, active recreation providers as well as presenters, panellists and exhibitors from across the wider sporting community.

Open to both members of Sport NSW and the wider sporting public, the Sport NSW Industry Conference provided an opportunity for staff working on the ground in NSW sport to hear from industry leaders and colleagues, with sessions on local councils, child safety, facilities, inclusive sport, governance, technology, data, volunteers and more.

The event also marked the official launch of the NSW Sector Strategy - Future Directions 2019-2022 - a document developed by Sport NSW following thorough consultation with a wide cross-section of representatives from throughout sport and active recreation. An aspirational plan for the delivery of sport in the state over the next four years - Future Directions is an important initiative to address the challenges and capitalise on the opportunities within the changing landscape of the sector. For more information, please visit the Future Directions website sportnsw.com.au/futuredirections

The crowd was also fortunate to hear from both the Minister for Sport, The Hon Stuart Ayres MP and Shadow Minister The Hon Lynda Voltz MLC as they outlined their respective plans for sport in NSW for the upcoming election and beyond.

Our sincere thanks to event partner, the Australian College of Physical Education for providing support and access to their wonderful facility and to the National Sports Convention who provided a door prize of one full registration to attend the 2019 convention in Melbourne. Congratulations to Samantha Paterson from Squash NSW who was the lucky winner of this prize!
