Activate Inclusion Sports Day at EDSACC Central Coast

Another amazing day of inclusive sport was had by 40 students with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities across the sports of Cricket, Gymnastics, Judo, Netball and Tennis on Friday, September 22nd at EDSACC with host Central Coast Council. The event was held in conjunction with our delivery partner Variety NSW – The Children’s Charity, who supplied show bags and information around services including scholarship programs and resourcing to assist families. The day was a great successful will positive feedback from teachers, students participants and parents.
Central Coast Council are fully committed to supporting an inclusive environment for participants with disabilities to be included in active recreation and sport in their LGA community. Sport NSW Disability Inclusion Manager, Murray Elbourn said “I have been very impressed with the support and enthusiasm that Central Coast Council have given Sport NSW in putting this day together which has led to such a successful outcome”.
With the Activate Inclusion Sports Days being so well received Sport NSW are extremely excited to now work with Variety NSW – The Children’s Charity to expand the program into future days with councils in Lane Cove (Oct 25), Coffs Harbour (Nov 8), Tamworth (Nov 16), Northern Beaches (Nov 21), Wagga Wagga (Nov 24) and Lake Macquarie (Nov 29).
Work is already underway for days in 2018 including days in Term 1 with Parramatta, Penrith and Campbelltown / Camden Councils.
