Cumberland Council recognised for World Traditional Games

The Winners of the Australian Sport, Recreation and Play Innovation Awards were announced at the National Sports Convention Networking Evening.

Congratulations to Sport NSW Local Council Member, Cumberland Council, who were named winners of the Programs, Activities and Events Category for the 2018 World Traditional Games.

As a Sport NSW Local Council member, Cumberland Council and Sport NSW have so far in 2018 hosted a Girls Get Active Day, and Activate Inclusion Sports Day, involving hundreds of students from across the LGA, and worked together to provide University Work Placement Students to assist with Cumberland Council school holiday active recreation activities.

The Sport, Recreation and Play Innovation Award 2018 Overall Winner was Cockburn City Council for the Cockburn Aquatic and Recreation Centre (WA). The council invested $109 million, for a 23,000m2, state-of-the-art, integrated aquatic, recreation, education and elite-athlete training facility for the community.
