Disability Sports Fest Wrap Up
Published Tue 23 Aug 2016
Sport NSW & WWE held the first Disability Sports Fest at Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE) in Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday, August 13th with 100 VIP guests from 3 disability sports. Sport4All, NSW Goalball & Wheelchair Sports NSW demonstrated the inclusion sports of Futsal, Goalball & Wheelchair Rugby on the day to fans and then met WWE Superstars The New Day (WWE World Tag Team Champions) & Sasha Banks (WWE Women’s Champion). The Superstars were coming off successful shows in NZ, Melbourne & Adelaide and were in Sydney for their final leg of the WWE LIVE Australia tour.
The WWE Superstars signed memorabilia for ACPE and fans then launched into trying aspects of the inclusion sports. All 4 Superstars were amazing in getting in and having a go at each sport with the crowd cheering loudly as they completed drills and scored on penalty shots.
WWE feedback was very positive and Sport NSW were extremely happy with the outcome from the day in promotion of all inclusion sport and recreation. WWE performed its final show in Sydney that night to a packed crowd at Qudos Bank Arena. WWE NXT will tour NZ & Australia in early to mid December with tickets on sale from September 5th. NSW will host shows in Newcastle & Sydney on the tour.
A big thank you to WWE, ACPE, NSW Goalball, Wheelchair Sports NSW & Sport4All for their positive evolvement in the event.
