Finalists Announced: 2017 NSW Sports Awards

As the countdown continues to the inaugural NSW Champions of Sport Ceremony Sport NSW is delighted to announce the finalists for the 2017 NSW Sports Awards, with over 30 sports recognised for their achievements and excellence.
For the first time, we will celebrate the year’s achievements of NSW athletes, coaches, officials, administrators and organisations alongside the NSW Hall of Champions Induction where Warren Birmingham, Matthew Nielsen, Michael Clarke, Rochelle Gilmore and Matthew Mitcham OAM will join the state’s sporting hall of fame.
Plus, in a highlight of the evening be there to see the elevation of Australia’s greatest Olympian, Ian Thorpe OAM, to Legend Status in the NSW Hall of Champions.
The NSW Athlete of the Year for 2017 has been narrowed down to a list of seven outstanding finalists including; Jessica Fox (paddle), Rihianna Iffland (diving), Jake Lynch (surf life saving), Ellyse Perry (cricket), Alison Sharpe (croquet), Dani Stevens (athletics), and Simaima Taufa (rugby league).
NSW teams have excelled on the national stage in 2017 leading to a top quality field of finalists. The Australian Youth 29er Class Sailing Team will set itself against GIANTS Netball, Lendlease Breakers, NSW Firestars - NSW Open Women's Softball Team, Sydney FC and the Sydney Uni Flames.
