Industry Forum, AGM and Annual Report

Published Tue 24 Oct 2017

Sport NSW held it’s Industry Forum and AGM on Tuesday night with an excellent crowd on hand at ACPE to hear from Australian Sports Commission Chief Executive Officer Kate Palmer.

Kate’s presentation took the audience through a look into the future of the Australian Sports Commission and the Australian Institute of Sport, delving into the areas where changes would be made to improve and modernise operations. There were some great insights into the workings of the ASC and AIS as well as the progress being made and we thank Kate for making herself available to attend.

The Industry Forum also included short presentations from Debbie Le Roux, the Head of ACPE, on building greater linkages between ACPE and sports, Office of Sport Chief Executive Matt Miller on progress being made on the Office’s strategic priorities and also Ryan Holloway from the Australian Sport Foundation on the untapped potential that exists in NSW to utilise the services of the Foundation for fundraising.

Following the forum Sport NSW held its Annual General Meeting, which was also supported by a very strong attendance. The election of Directors resulted in one change to the make-up of the Board. Peter Hugg, Head of Member Services, Community Football & Game Development at Football NSW was elected to the Board for the first time and joined returning Directors Joseph La Posta (current Chairperson), Ross Bidencope (current Chair of Finance) and Tracie Edmondson. We welcome Peter to the Board and look forward to his contribution.

Greg Meagher, General Manager Capacity & Capability at Surf Life Saving Australia was not returned for a third term. In thanking Greg for his contribution to the Sport NSW Board Chairperson Joseph La Posta said, “We appreciate and thank Greg for his leadership to grow and elevate the standing of our board over the past four years.”
