Judo NSW hosts 2017 Oceania Judo Union in Sydney Olympic Park

Judo NSW has been instrumental this week in hosting the 2017 Oceania Judo Union (OJU) Strategy Seminar at Sports House in Sydney Olympic Park, as the new Executive team develops and agrees on their Strategic Plan to develop Judo in the Oceania region.

A number of National Judo Federations participated including; Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, French Polynesia, and New Caledonia.

Judo Federation of Australia (JFA) were well represented with Kate Corkery (Chair JFA), Nick Papadimitropoulos (Director) and Shane Alvisio (Director), providing valuable input.

Judo NSW made a significant contribution to the event, providing logistics support and input from Nic Lowe (President, Judo NSW), Rob Ivers (Vice President, Judo NSW and General Secretary OJU), John Buckley and Ivor Endicott-Davies (both former OJU office bearers and Judo NSW Life Members) and Phil McDermott.

The focus of the week under the leadership of new OJU President – Rai Davio has been critically important in strengthening governance processes and setting long term targets for growth, participation, and achievement.
