Sport NSW and Lane Cove Council will host the inaugural Knowledge Exchange Inclusion Program this Wednesday evening (27 September) from 6-8pm - in partnership with EarlyEd and Variety NSW – The Children’s Charity.
The program focuses on providing core training to State Sporting Organisations (Development Officers), local sporting clubs (Coaches, Administrators and Officials), associations, community organisations, University / TAFE students working across the teaching, Health / PE or disability sector as well as families / carers of people with disabilities, mental health and learning difficulties. The two hour workshop provides vital information across the spectrum of mental health, learning difficulties, physical, intellectual and sensory (vision & hearing) categories.
Throughout the session stereo types and barriers will be discussed, with easy-to-use strategies presented to enable the inclusion of participants within mainstream session. How to best promote inclusion through your sport will also be discussed as well as how to better train and mentor development staff, coaches and officials on how to increase skills around understanding rule and equipment variation.
Sport NSW have been a driving force in the creation of “INCLUSION LEAGUES” around Futsal, Touch Football, Netball, Tennis, Softball, Hockey, AFL & Basketball. During the session successes will be identified and how these programs impact mainstream program participation.
There will be refreshments and light catering at the event.
