Sport NSW, the premier industry body for sport in the state, today announced Australia’s leading sporting goods retailer, rebel, will sponsor the NSW Champions of Sport Ceremony for the next two years.
The 2022 rebel NSW Champions of Sport Ceremony will be held at the International Convention & Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour on November 28 and celebrates the achievements and successes of NSW athletes, coaches, teams, officials, events, administrators, and organisations across 12 award-winning categories.
Attended by the elite of NSW sport, the Ceremony will also see six NSW sporting greats inducted into the NSW Hall of Champions where they will join a galaxy of outstanding NSW sports stars who have been the trailblazers of sporting success over several generations.
Rebel is the inaugural naming rights sponsor of the Awards and will also sponsor the Event of the Year Award category.
Sport NSW Chairperson, Carolyn Campbell, welcomed rebel’s sponsorship saying their respective synergies made the partnership an appropriate fit .
“Sport NSW exists to support member organisations so girls and boys, men and women of all ages and abilities can enjoy the significant physical, mental, and social benefits sport and active recreation provides,” said Ms Campbell.
“For sport to be played and enjoyed, athletes, teams and clubs require equipment such as bats, balls, shoes and other sports specific gear and clothing. And as the nation’s leading retailer of sporting and leisure equipment, apparel and footwear, rebel supports Australians to live a healthy and active lifestyle,” added Ms Campbell.
Rebel NSW/ACT State manager, Rebecca Scourfield, said the rebel NSW Champions of Sport Ceremony was an opportunity to applaud athletes, teams, coaches, events, administrators, organisations, and officials who have demonstrated exceptional sporting performance over the past 12 months.
“Australians are passionate about sport and rebel is passionate about providing the opportunity for them to chase their sporting dreams. At rebel, we believe in the transformative power of sport as it motivates and uplifts millions of Australians and brings communities together,’ Ms Scourfield.
The rebel NSW Champions of Sport Ceremony category finalists and the six athletes to be inducted into the NSW Hall of Champions will be announced later this month.
