Sport NSW Local Council Conference Wrap Up

Published Wed 26 Feb 2020

The first ever Sport NSW Local Council Conference was held at ACPE on Thursday 20 February, with over 70 delegates from a range of councils, sporting organisations and local government in attendance. The half-day event was a great opportunity to talk about the key issues that pertain to those working in and around local government and provided opportunities for delegates to network with others at the event.

An opening address by Karen Jones, Disability Inclusion Manager, FACS started the afternoon off, and this was followed by four insightful sessions including; Disability Inclusion Action Plans & NDIS, Drought & Bushfire Response, Regional Collaboration & Activation and The Changing Demands of Managing Sports Clubs and Facilities. A big thank you to each of our presenters for sharing their thoughts, ideas and knowledge on each of these topics - it was great to see the delegates actively engaging with presenters and each other right throughout the day.

Our sincere thanks to the event partner, the Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE) for providing access to such a wonderful facility and for all their support in the lead up and execution of the event. Thanks also to the National Sports Convention who provided the door prize of one full registration to attend the 2020 Convention later this year and congratulations to Rita Harden from Liverpool City Council who won.

We are very pleased with the addition of this event to the Sport NSW calendar, and look forward to continuing to grow the event in years to come!
