Dear [[NAME]],

COVID-19 Update

The impact of COVID-19, both real and perceived is evolving at a rapid rate. Sport NSW is actively monitoring the latest updates and will continue to update its members and stakeholders throughout the pandemic.

A Return to Sport from 1 July 2020

The Acting Minister for Sport, Dr. Geoff Lee, announced on 10 June that adult community sport could recommence at the same time as 18 years and under, from the start of July.

Sport NSW thanks Minister Lee and the NSW Government for listening to sporting organisations, associations and clubs and aligning the start dates for both juniors and seniors.

As sporting clubs and organisations prepare for the return to competition, Sport NSW would like to remind you to stay up to date with the current NSW Government coronavirus information and NSW Public Health Orders.

TONIGHT! Unlocking the value of data post COVID-19

Tuesday, 23 June: 6.00pm - 7.00pm

Data has the power to inform, connect and influence - bringing sports closer to government and other key planning and funding stakeholders. It can also enhance sport operations and delivery. Yet too often sports fail to take a number of simple steps to realise its full potential. This session will consider best practice with respect to member management systems, as well as how to then leverage the value of this data across NSW today.

Join us as we hear from three subject experts, Simon Haire (ActiveXchange), Nic Watkins (Revolutionise Sport), Dr. Lindsey Reece (SPRINTER) and various State Sporting Organisations.

Active Abilities Series

Sport NSW recently announced the launch of the Active Abilities Series by people with a disability, for people with a disability.

During the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, Murray Elbourn, Disability Inclusion Manager at Sport NSW, identified the scarcity of specific online exercise content for people with a disability – despite the increasing options for able-bodied people.

Sport NSW collaborated with Rachelle Sultana, Head Exercise Physiologist at Healthstin, seven incredible NSW and Australian representative athletes from across the physical, sensory and intellectual disability spectrum, and the team from Hustle Media to create workout sessions for people with disabilities.

The program features three levels: 10-minute introductory, 15-minute intermediate and 30-minute sport participant exercises that are designed for the following disabilities:

  • Blind or Low Vision
  • Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Autism
  • Down Syndrome
  • Acquired Brain Injury
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Quadriplegia & Paraplegia

Sport NSW hopes this series will encourage greater participation and build awareness around the limited options currently available. We encourage you to share the series with your network so it can provide benefit to people far and wide.

COVIDSafe App
  COVIDSafe App

The COVIDSafe app has been developed by the Australian Government as part of their work to slow the spread of COVID-19. The app is designed to help find and contain outbreaks quickly, meaning governments can start to ease restrictions while still keeping Australians safe.

The COVIDSafe app helps find close contacts of COVID-19 cases. The app helps state and territory health officials to quickly contact people who may have been exposed to COVID-19. This reduces the chances of you passing on the virus to your family, friends and other people in the community.

Sport NSW is supporting the government and encouraging the sporting community to download the COVIDSafe app. Downloading the app is completely voluntary, however we hope it will assist in the easing of restrictions and help keep our community safer as we start to return to sport and other activities.

For all the information on the COVIDSafe app, please click here.
